<HEXAHEDRAL DECOMPOSITION>

 

Insert an element..... I am working on this algorithm now

A domain is divided (decomposed) into sub-domains. 

An element (hexahedral object) can be inserted into an existing domain, and the system will apply necessary decomposition to further subdivide the existing sub-domains. We will consider the case where the newly inserted element fits in a single sub-domain region (cell) first.  Below is a 2D illustration of the process.  Click here for the case where the inserted element covers multiple cells.....

* This element insertion is based on a proprietary algorithm.

(1) The domain initially has be decomposed to multiple cells (regions).  We are inserting an element, as below.

(2) The automatic element insertion feature decomposes the existing domain into sub-domains, in response to the newly inserted element. After the decomposition, the hexahedral integrity of the domain is restored. 

(3) Another element is inserted in the lower-right cell region of the domain. 

(4) Again, the automatic decomposition of the affected cells takes place, integrating the newly inserted element into the valid hexahedral structure.

(5)  Now, the user can apply Mesh Generation to the entire domain....

Testing Insertion feature below....       For insertion in a multiple-cell domain, click here.

(1) A box (intentionally warped) is placed in the domain. There is only one region in this case.

(2) Automatic decomposition follows....

(3) Decomposition accuracy is incrementally improved.... until final convergence is obtained.



(4) After restoring the domain integrity, grid generation takes place...
