I.  Stock Photos

Shooting

D300 ----- RAW (12-bit) + JPEG (L, Basic) / Color space Adobe RGB /   Use 8 GB CF (about 400 images)

At Home

1. Read in -- Read in to the PC hard disk (at PHOTO_DROP site).  
    Folder structure: STK-2008-A (max. 4.5 GB) \ 2008-02-01 Rodeo Drive, 2008-02-12 Sunset

   STK_1_ORIGINAL_Keep \ 2008-03-05 SunsetBlvd \ --- 
    --> RAW + JPEG (small )

2. Initial screening / Delete -- Start View NX to view all images. Discard unneeded images (both RAW + JPEG)

3. File numbering -- Re-number all remaining files using View NX. Each folder gets a unique first-3 digits (001...) and then increment by one for each image file.  
    If RAW and JPEG received different numbers, make the JPEG number the same as the RAW number.

4. Adjust -- Invoke Capture NX from within View NX as needed for processing a RAW image.  
    If any changes are made, Save the RAW image, and then also Save As a JPEG (low quality). This replaces the original JPEG.

5. Sample images to send
    Under
STK_2_SAMPLE_Delete
    --> Create a folder (same name: 2008-03-05 SunsetBlvd) by duplicating the original folder
    --> Delete RAW images from this folder 
    --> Select sample images - Delete JPEG (small ) not to be sent 
   
à Make an Excel list for sample images in this folder  (file numbers and description)
    --> Burn a CD
out of this folder (@2MB x 200 shots = 400MB)

6. Send the CD.

Request

1. After the selection is returned, open the selection excel file for reference.

2. Convert requested images to TIFF (8 bits) using Capture NX.
   
View NX on STK_1_ORIGINAL_Keep (on selected images) 
    --> Invoke Capture NX for each image selected/requested 
    --> Save As W361-000001A.tiff  ( Adobe RGB / 8 bit / Embed profile ) 
    --> Save in My Document

3. STK_3_TIFF_DVD 
    --> Move all TIFF images from My Document to this folder  
    --> Make a screen shot (thumbnails) of this folder & save as 2008-05-09 Thumbnail.doc in this folder

4. Make an excel fact sheet & save as STK-W361_XXX.xls in this folder.

5. Burn a DVD from TIFF (@35 MB x 140 = 4.6 GB).

6. Send the DVD.

Discard all TIFF files.

Save folders as it reaches 4 GB (RAW + JPEG) to a DVD. --->  STK-2008-A

 

II.  CP Photos

Shooting

D300 ----- RAW (12-bit) + JPEG (L, Basic) / Color space Adobe RGB /   Use 8 GB CF (about 400 images)

At Home

Read in to the PC hard disk.
Folder structure: CP-2008-A (max. 4.5 GB) \ 2008-03-01 Florida 1, 2008-03-02 Florida 2, ...

Start View NX software to view all the images. Discard unneeded images (both RAW + JPEG)

Invoke Capture NX from within View NX as needed for processing a RAW image. If any changes are made, save the RAW image, and then also save as a JPEG (highest quality) with "A_" prefix. This does not replace the original JPEG. This serves as a marker for candidates for future use.

Only "serious" images should be kept as both RAW + JPEG images. For non-serious ones, delete RAW and only keep the original JPEG (L, Basic).

Save the folder in DVD ---->  CP-2008-A  (DVD: 4.6 GB)


III.  Family Photos

Shooting

D300 ----- RAW (12-bit) + JPEG (L, Basic) / Color space Adobe RGB /   

At Home

Read in to the PC hard disk.
Folder structure: FAM-2008-A (max. 4.5 GB) \ 2008-01-01 Birthday, 2008-02-02 Magic Mountain, ...

Start View NX software to view all the images. Discard unneeded images (both RAW + JPEG)

Invoke Capture NX from within View NX as needed for processing a RAW image. If any changes are made, save as a JPEG (high quality). This replaces the original JPEG.

Delete all RAW and retain only JPEG.

Save folders as it reaches 4 GB (RAW + JPEG) to a DVD. --->  FAM-2008-A
