Classification of Carnivorous Plants         List of Species   World Map   Phylogeny

Based on Hasebe (2005), Angiosperm Phylogeny Group (2003), Hilu et al. (2003), Komiya (1994), Juniper et al. (1989) and others. Number of species shown in the parentheses. Only angiosperms, or flowering plants, are considered here.

* Drosophyllum is placed in its own family.
** Some authors, including Lloyd (1942) and Juniper et al., consider Roridula non-carnivorous.
*** Proboscidea is not considered carnivorous, but is included here because of its close relationship to Ibicella.
**** Following P. Taylor (1989) and others, Biovularia (B. olivacea) and Polypompholyx (P. multifida and P. tenella) are placed in Utricularia.
