After fertilization, a tall scape grows further, as it straightens itself from pendulous to erect posture, often reaching a height of 90-100cm or more. The seeds set by August in nature. A capsule contains a large number of viable seeds, sometime exceeding 1000 seeds per fruit. A characteristic seed has numerous air-filled projections for wind dispersal. Floating seeds carried by streams may also find new colonies.
Each capsule may
contain 1000-2000 seeds. A seed has numerous air-filled projections on the
surface for air dispersal.
